Information about the list

Welcome to Sha-La-La, a mailing list devoted to obscure pop
music. Sha-La-La began as an alternative to the indiepop-list, and as
such there are a few rules to abide by. The most important rule is
that you do not, under any circumstance, send spam or advertisements
to the list. Even if they are relevant releases. Feel free to talk
about new records, or mention tour dates, but this rule is aimed at
things such as press releases. You can always include brief mentions
of these things in your signature.
The other major rule is that you make an effort to remain on
topic. There is no list of approved bands to discuss, but on the
whole the discussion tends to gravitate in a certain somewhat
nebulous direction usually involving jangly British bands, old
psychedelic soft rock or Japanese pop. If you are unsure check the
archives. But don't feel limited to these categories. The one thing
we do ask is that you include some sort of musical discussion in your
e-mail. It's alright to mention other things besides music in a post,
so long as the entirety of the post is not dedicated to, say, the
2000 American Presidential election. This is in an effort to keep the
discussion to things that everyone is interested in, and the reason
people subscribe to this list is to talk about music.

Okay that's all I've got at the moment, I can add more later.

	Yours Descriptively,
