Hello folks,
hope that all is sound in the land of parkandride and everything is well with you all. We just got back yesterday from Barcelona. We had a great time at the festival, which turned out to be probably the best gig we've ever played. The crowd were fantastic, and made us feel very welcome, very big thanks to anyone who was there. Special thanks to Jordi for all his hospitality and help, and to everyone from elefant and primavera sound. Celebrity flight sharing first. On our flight out from Glasgow, we had that TV's Dominic Diamond on our plane, and on the Flight back from Barcelona we had TV's Jeremy Spake (?) out of Kurt Benson from Hollyoaks and Holby City, replete with bleached mohican hairdo a la Fran from Travis (highly amusing). We had an inter-dressing room screeching competition with Moldy Peaches backstage before going on, which was fun (see graham norton on father ted). the whole festival was amazing, set in a showcase village built in the 30's on the hills above barcelona to celebrate the architectural diversity of Spain. The best way to describe the atmosphere would be to compare it to the Bowlie Weekender, everyone was milling about from stage to stage smiling, sitting in bars and restaurants, on steps, watching and listening to some great bands. Highlights for us were pulp, tindersticks and Echo and the Bunnymen playing in the open square in the early hours, on the rock delux stage, moldy peaches were superb on the friday night, and delgados sounded stunning on the saturday. Other trip highlights include getting to see Barcelona in all its glory. It really is a beautiful city. If you get the chance, i would recommend you go and take a look (Stay in Hotel Coronado, its great and has El Minco the night porter), meeting some great people, and one of us being nearly knocked down then simultaneously nearly arrested for jaywalking about half an hour before we left the country. All in all, its been a wonderful weekend, and whilst its always nice to come home (pissing with rain and deeply grey as usual in Glasgow on our return) We're sorry we didn't have longer to explore Barcelona more fully. Still, there is always next time. For us its straight back to working on the album (no rest for the wicked) Anyone still after t-shirts, we're sorting them out at the moment, and you can email us at cameraobscura@xxxxxxxxxxx for more info on them, and how to actually get one.
thats about it for now, take care, cheers, gavin
