Hello folks,
hope all is sound in the land of parkandride and everything is
well with you all.
This Thursday sees us playing live on John Peel's show from Peel
Acres. Its his last show for a month so we're going down to provide 'party
tunes' throughout the show, or something. We'll be doing four or five songs
throughout the course of the show, which is broadcast live between
10pm-12midnight on radio 1. If you are outside the UK and want to listen in
you can go to www.bbc.co.uk/radio1 and listen to it via the magic of the
electric interweb. If you decide to go out and see idlewild in Glasgow on
the same night then its your own fault for missing it ;-). Obviously it
would ruin the surprise to tell you what we're going to play, but its
something old (clue - as david moore might say, the national anthem of this
gaff), something new, something borrowed and something biggest bluest. I
have been asked to say that a certain carey lander (of this parish, you may
remember her from such roles as the eighties fan video) will be helping us
out with keyboard duties for the occasion.
On a Lander related note, Happy Birthday Carey, for it is her
birthday today.
The album is out in Spain on Elefant records in the next couple
of weeks. It will have the b-sides of eighties fan as bonus tracks since the
single wasn't released there, (although it did make the top of a spanish
radio show end of year poll). Gifted records in Australia will be releasing
it in the near future also.
At the moment we're just working on the second album, and are
returning to cava to start recording soon. We may have a couple of one off
shows over the next wee while, but we won't be doing any tours for the
forseeable future, any live happenings will be announced as and when they
occur.
Got to finally attend the national pop leauge in Glasgow last
week, was a lot of fun, with the set up in the woodside social club, its
like an indie wedding reception, and well worth attending if you find
yourself in Glasgow whilst it is on.
Anyway, thats all for now, more news as and when it happens,
cheers for now, Gavin
