Why not easy listening? Well, I suppose it's all in the definition.
The 'easy listening' section of record shops used to be populated with
people like Val Doonican, Mantovani and Herp Albert's Tijuana Brass.
Maybe this isn't the same the whole world over. My Grandfather had a
Herp Albert's Tijuana Brass plays the Beatles record. I remember
getting quite excited when I listened to it and their version of "Hey
Jude" sounded very similar to Primal Scream's "Loaded", minus the
samples. I still think that sort of easy listening is rubbish though.
It seems to be quite popular nowadays. Maybe I'll try to ironically
listen to it, once I've worked out how to do that.
Mooro referred to me as a 21st century Paddington Bear, which sounds
pretty good. I currently own three jars of marmalade. Yeah, Dean Ford
and his friends are from Baillieston. Good memory. Rendezvous is
great; it has "Gold Dust" on it. Pity she fell down the stairs. The
cover that's not Elton John on that record is Richard & Linda
Thompson's "I wish I was a fool for you", which is much better. Though
I like Elton John.
I've also been listening to the Bee Gees' "Odessa", which is great and
recommeded to me by Tim, who is a friend of ours, in the Donnie Brasco
sense. I was reading about it on Amazon, where someone states that
"You'll never see my face again" is a 'light-hearted number, not one
of my favourites". This is a song that has a line that goes "It makes
me laugh, you've got no friends". Is it supposed to be light-hearted?
Maybe I'm missing something.
Keith.
